Sustainability and ecodesign in the spotlight
On September 5, TMF took over the Industrial & Technology stage at the Trä & Teknik fair at the Swedish Exhibition Centre with a current and insightful seminar on sustainability and eco-design. One of the key players was Helen Berntsson, Marketing Manager at Lundbergs Möbler, who participated in the discussion on how the EU's Green Deal affects the Swedish furniture industry.
The Green Deal, which aims to achieve climate neutrality, entails extensive requirements for eco-design and digital product passports. These requirements will change how furniture is designed, manufactured, and sold, and the Swedish furniture industry faces major challenges and opportunities.
Helen Berntsson shared her insights into how Lundbergs Möbler is adapting to these new requirements and working to implement sustainable solutions in their products and processes. An important step in this process has been the development of EPDs (environmental product declarations) for all table models. This allows Lundbergs Möbler to develop a concrete action plan for continued work in order to create more sustainable circular processes. The conversation also included Linus Davidsson, Business Responsible for Repair at Swedese Möbler AB, who provided his perspective on the increasing importance of furniture repair and lifespan.
The seminar offered valuable insights into how the industry is preparing for the future and how companies like Lundbergs Möbler are contributing to a more sustainable and climate-smart furniture industry through circular economy.
This event was an important part of the Trä & Teknik fair's program and contributed to highlighting how the industry navigates the changing landscape of environmental requirements and sustainability.
